Design-your-own-board activity sheet
- Design your own SUP!
- Imagine you were designing your own SUP board.
- What colour would it be?
- Would you draw something on it?
- (SUPPY likes stripes on his).
- Grab some crayons and create yours here.
- ECO TEAM TIP:
- Maddie Leblanc
- Always make sure you have your leash and PFD tightly fastened before you get on the water. When you start stand up paddling, momentum is stability so keep your eyes up and paddle in the water as much as possible. Also don't forget to HAVE FUN!
Imagine the board you'd like to ride
SUPPY is waiting with a palette and a brush. This time, shall we become board designers? Fill the SUP and paddle in the picture with your favorite colors, patterns and ocean friends. Telling why you chose your design matters more than drawing well. Let your imagination run free on paper and finish your very own board.
Try it together like this
Take a slow look at the board first
Find the long board and the paddle next to it. Point to the front and the back of the board, and imagine where you would stand. Before you start filling in the picture, try tracing with your finger where each pattern will go.
Pick colors and patterns that are like you
Choose your favorite colors and say why you like them. You can draw stripes like SUPPY, or add waves or fish. If you put the same pattern on the board and the paddle, they can look like a matching set.
Finish a board that tells a story
While you color, give your board a name. In the space around it, you can draw the places you'd like to visit on this board or the people you'd like to go with. You don't have to fill every empty space. If your own ideas are in it, that's enough.
Show your work to your family
Show your finished picture and explain the part you like best. Family members can say which color or fun shape caught their eye first. After you listen to each other's ideas, you can add a little more if you think of something new.
Let’s talk
What do you think?
- What pattern would help people recognize your board, even from far away?
- If you told a friend your board's name, what story would you share about it?
