PLASTIC OFFSET PROGRAM
Action Inspired by a Problem on the Water
After floating plastic bags disrupted riding at a windsurfing event in Thailand in 2000, the Starboard team began cleaning local beaches. Regular collection developed into the official Plastic Offset Program in 2017. Starboard's programme page describes support for collection teams in Thailand and Myanmar.
EDUCATION & LIVELIHOODS
Cleaner Beaches and a Future for Local Communities
Alongside collection, environmental education in schools encourages habits that reduce plastic use. Local residents gain skills and livelihood opportunities, helping environmental care become a lasting part of everyday life.
VERIFICATION & PLASTIC CREDITS
Recording and Verifying Collection Results
Starboard describes its collection and recycling through external verification and plastic credits. Credits help direct funding to waste management based on plastic recovered and processed. See Starboard's materials for current verification status and programme details.
